LCIF gives immediate grant of $30,000 to Chilean Earthquake Disaster

Lions Clubs International Foundation has made an immediate award of $10,000 to each of three Lions Clubs in Chile, which includes the city of Conception the hardest hit area in the country.

As more information is known after contacting the Lions in Chile, it will be posted to the LCIF web page.

Lions Celebrate 40 years of Fundraising

Weymouth & Portland Lions Club held their 40th Charter Anniversary and Ladies Night at the Hotel Prince Regent, Weymouth, in celebration of 40 years since the club was first chartered into Lions Clubs International. Over the past 40 years the club has raised something approaching £1 million with their fund raising efforts and most of this money has gone back into the local community helping those in need and local good causes. Major fund raising projects include a Swimarathon, Street Busk, Golf Day, Beach Motocross and the Christmas Day Harbour Swim.

District Governor Judith Goodchild, principal guest, congratulated the Lions on all the good work they had carried out over the past 40 years.


 


Presidents Award

At the Lions recent 40th Charter Anniversary and Ladies Night, Lion Norman Apps was presented with the Presidents Award by President John Cake. The Presidents award is given in recognition of outstanding work for the club.

Lions Hope for Haiti has mobilized more than US$2 million to date. Lions Hope for Haiti is Lions and LCIF working together to provide relief and hope for the people of Haiti. Following the devastating earthquake, Lions around the world responded generously and quickly to the LCIF designated fund for this disaster. Donations are continuing to pour in from individuals, clubs and districts.

Lions Christmas Concert Update

    


Our annual Christmas Concert for the over 60's was another great success. The feed-back we had from those leaving was very positive.

Christmas Day Harbour Swim


Thousands watched 239 brave souls plunge into Weymouth harbour to take part in our annual Christmas Day swim, making this a record entry.



Over £11,500 was raised in sponsorship for a whole host of charities and over £1,200 was collected on the day for the Lions Charity fund
