Charity Street Busk
Saturday 17th July 2010
We are very lucky here in Weymouth having so many talented musicians who are willing to give there time to our annual Charity Street Busk. The format is ' anything goes' because although there is a plan for local groups and bands to play at an allotted time we often get people just turning up wanting to take part which is ok by us because that makes for a wonderful atmosphere. This is a very popular event not only with the general public but also with those taking part.

(Replay in action)
The Busk, held in St Mary Street outside HSBC Bank, is headed up by our very own Lion member Norman Stagles and his band 'Replay' (See them on You Tube) who organise and co-ordinate the whole event.

(Ken Watkins gives a solo performance)
A street collection is made on the day for the Lions Charity Fund which will benefit a whole host of people in the Weymouth & Portland area who just need a little bit of help to get them through these hard times.

The Lions, in conjunction with Purbeck Motocross Club and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council will be staging their annual Beach Motocross on Weymouth's sands.

Some 300 riders take part and come from all corners of the UK. There are six races of half an hour each with experts, seniors and juniors doing two races each.
Riders line up at the Pavilion end for each start and hurtle along the course at the water's edge towards the Jubilee Clock before zig-zagging back along the esplanade side over jumps and hollows to complete a circuit of about a mile
